PSFCOM Home Game Trip: Brownies at Steelers, November 11, 2007

Steeler Bear and his mommy arrived in their hotel room on Friday to a GREAT Pittsburgh sunset--with Heinz Field within reach!

On Saturday, Steeler Bear, his mommy, and their roommate, Julie, took a little road trip to get some autographs. Here is just literally hanging around, waiting for...

Mewelde Moore!

After meeting Mr. Moore, they got to meet William Gay! When Steeler Bear's mommy asked him for an autograph, Mr. Gay said something to the effect of, "oh, my God, it's a Care Bear!" Better, actually... but he was such a nice, fun guy!

Later that night, the PSFCOM, along with Steel City Mafia, threw one hell of a party at one of the bars at Station Square. There, Steeler Bear and his mommy met up with their friend from last year, Robin Cole (who actually remembered them!)...

...Mike Merriweather...

...and Mike Wagner!

Steeler Bear and his mommy goofed around for a bit...

...then got to meet Andy Russell!

After all that celebrity-meeting stuff, Steeler Bear needed to relax... in the corner pocket.

Beer break!

Steeler Bear's friend Steve hung out with him for a while...

...as did his friend Dana!

The next morning, at the PSFCOM's tailgate party, Robin Cole showed up! Story from Steeler Bear's mommy: I was walking around with a Voga wine bottle that had been emptied and, of course, re-filled with Licor 43, one of my favorite liquors (always straight, never cold, though it was cold that day. I was using the cap as my shot glass). Robin Cole asked me what I was drinking, so I told him what it was, and that it's a relatively strong, vanilla liquor. Then, he asked me for some! He liked it, of course. So, I can technically say I have shared my drink with a Steeler. Points for me! :)

Mr. Cole was also terrific enough (not that that should be a shock to anyone) to show us all his Super Bowl ring... now THAT'S what I call a RING!

After the tailgate, Steeler Bear and his mommy made their way to Gate C, where they dropped off some groceries for the food bank in Pittsburgh. They strongly urge EVERYONE to do what they can to help others.
Speaking of helping others... Steeler Bear's mommy bent down inside the Great Hall to help a lady who had dropped some things from her purse. After she bent down, Steeler Bear's mommy's camera fell to the ground, too, and broke--so the next two pictures were taken on her cell phone. Grrrrr...

Before the game. Yes. Freezing, snowing, sleeting, NOT pretty. But, somehow, they made it through.

Oooh, this was a good seat! Steeler Bear hopes for even BETTER next year, but at least this year they could see "Daddy" Troy's touchdown that the stupid refs took away! Maybe they'd had a little too much Licor 43 themselves...

Steeler Bear's mommy hates when her camera doesn't work, so she twisted and turned and beat it 'til it worked. Fortunately, it DID work when she and Steeler Bear went to Primanti's for their very first. Steeler Bear liked it... his mommy did, too, but being from Baltimore, she thinks it needed a little Old Bay. :)

Steeler Bear and his mommy had yet ANOTHER amazing trip to the Burgh, and they hope to make it an annual event. A special thanks to their roomie, Julie, and Steeler Bear's mommy's friend from church, a different Julie, for driving them around Pittsburgh. Of course, a very big thanks to the PSFCOM for organizing the trip, and to the Pittsburgh Steelers for being the best damn team ever!
